How the samples are made
The demo company, through the same code.
The samples are built from the demo workspace, a winery with its books, bank, payments and payroll connected, through exactly the builders and the PDF engine your workspace runs, when the site is built (these on October 6, 2026, for Wineyard Cellars LLC). Every page carries the word SAMPLE and the notice “Sample built from a demo company. Not a filing. Review every figure with your accountant.”.
A document you build in your own workspace carries a Draft mark instead until management signs it off on Filings & Tax; a signed, current document prints clean. The mark lives on the PDF, on the screen preview, and on the first line of the CSV and XLSX.
The IRS and SEC forms beside each document are works of the United States government, in the public domain, hosted unchanged and listed with their source and retrieval date in the site’s sources file. Everything else is a link to its publisher. Nothing on this page is legal, tax or investment advice; the formats are US starting points and your adviser reviews a document before it is used.
Questions
Documents, answered
Are these documents filings?
No. Each one organises your figures in the layout of a form, rule or published guide so the person who files or reads it can carry them across: the tax worksheet is laid out like the IRS return but is not the return, and the quarterly report follows Form 10-Q's parts but is not filed with anyone. Every unsigned document carries a Draft mark until management signs it off on Filings & Tax.
What are the samples?
Every document, built from the demo company (a winery with its books, bank, payments and payroll connected) through the same code your workspace runs, marked Sample on every page. They show the layout and the words, not your figures.
Why are some forms hosted here and others only linked?
IRS and SEC forms are works of the United States government and in the public domain, so a copy sits beside the document that follows it. Everything else (NVCA, the Open Cap Table Format, Y Combinator's checklist, Sequoia's guide, Intuit's and Xero's import layouts) is copyrighted and linked to its publisher.
Can my accountant change the layout?
Every document exports as PDF, CSV or XLSX. The CSV and XLSX carry the same figures as the PDF, table by table, for a preparer who works in a spreadsheet; the PDF is the one to send.
Is this tax or legal advice?
No. The formats are US starting points and the figures are yours; your accountant, preparer or counsel reviews a document before it is used.
